Leif Christoffersen, Founding Partner

Biofuels, biomass energy, waste-to-energy, and electric vehicles have been Leif's primary focus at TEP. He has engaged in work with companies such as Hawaii BioEnergy (HBE), AeroVironment, Rincon Renewables (acquired in 2008), and West Biofuels. The year before co-founding TEP, Leif played a key role in establishing the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation with whom he maintains an active advisory role. He spent the previous 5+ years at the Diversa Corporation (Verenium Corporation), where he managed bioprospecting collaborations with companies, labs, universities from around the world, as well as managed Diversa's grants program, coordinated their scientific advisory board, and supported their international business development efforts. Leif also has worked in field of international environmental conflict resolution over a 5+ year period where he served as a climate change adviser to the Executive Director of UNEP at COP1 and COP2 of the Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) and where he became a bioprospecting expert through his work with national parks and private reserves in the US and abroad. The foundation of Leif's career was based in international development organizations where he worked in organic produce, agroforestry, and forest inventory. Leif holds a degree from Hobart College (BA, Economics) and the University of California, San Diego (MBA, Rady School of Management). Leif remains active at UCSD's Rady School, serving on the Board of Directors for its Alumni Association.
Gina Durante, Senior Consultant

At Teotl , Gina is currently focused on climate policy, solar power development and water issues. Prior to joining Teotl, Gina founded Green Path Consulting, helping companies better understand sustainability driven market opportunities. Before founding Green Path, she was a Market Analyst for DRI Energy, the solar energy subsidiary of a large roofing concern headquartered in Irvine, CA. In this role, she provided in-depth sales & marketing support, project cost estimating tools, and solar industry market intelligence to executive management. Before moving to DRI Energy, Gina was a consultant at L.E.K. Consulting, a management consultancy specializing in market research, managing analysts on short, intense market research cases for private equity and corporate clients. Prior to her experience at L.E.K. Consulting, Gina worked for Hewlett Packard on a variety of projects, from product and service offering development to developing market research for U.S., European, and Chinese markets for new partner-delivered IT service offerings to small and medium businesses (SMBs). She also has experience in the public sector and with regulatory compliance�providing clients with vital insights into the impacts of policy initiatives on cleantech business opportunities. Gina holds degrees from Stanford University (BS, Biological Sciences), Yale University (Master of Environmental Studies), and the University of California, Los Angeles (MBA, the Anderson School of Management).
Ryan Leary, Founding Partner

Ryan's project focus at Teotl has been on cellulosic fuel plant development and green chemicals research. Prior to co-founding Teotl, Ryan was a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. Throughout his naval career, he has held several leadership and management positions. Ryan cultivated keen strategic, implementation, and operational instincts from a combination of wartime, administrative, and academic experiences. As Navigation Officer on the USS OBANNON, Ryan led a department of 28 personnel to ensure the safe navigation of the ship and accomplish all administrative requirements which included managing an annual budget of $150,000. He led a boarding team of 12 to search over 125 foreign vessels in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, seized 10 tons of cocaine off the coast of Ecuador, and over $2 million of contraband Iraqi oil. From his naval accomplishments, Ryan has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and was nominated for the Admiral Zumwalt Award for Visionary Leadership and Navy/Marine Corps Association Leadership Award. Ryan was also one of only seven Officers selected annually to participate in the Surface Warfare Officer MBA Program. With this recognition, he pursued a business degree at the University of California, San Diego, Rady School of Management. As part of the Rady School�s MBA Strategy coursework, Ryan and his project team created and delivered a comprehensive growth strategy for Pacific Biodiesel. In addition to his MBA from UCSD, Ryan holds a degree from Pennsylvania State University (BS, Business and Marketing of Wood Products).
